Here are some pictures of our holiday home close to the Pyrenees.
The picture above shows the front of our holiday home in France. It is probably about 200 years old and used to be a typical farm of this region of southern France just north of the Pyrenees - some of our neighbours are still working farms. At the moment we only occupy the ground floor where we have 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. when we retire in a couple of years time I'm going to convert the upstairs to 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. This will lose a small bedroom downstairs to a new, and I hope, rather grand staircase. At this stage I've got grandiose plans for the barns including a games room/bar/cinema but I doubt these will ever come to fruition. It's always good to have ambitions though.

The Pic du Midi. No it's not a space ship (my ambitions are not that grand!), it's part of the observatory and transmitter complex on top of the nearby mountain. It's at a height of 2,877 m and is a great place for a day out. Check with the ticket office for the weather on the summit before you buy your ticket - they will give you sound advice. Even in mid summer you'll need warm clothing. Please eat at the restaurant at the top - it is gourmet! For more info try this link.
My wife Sue and Granddaughter Shania skiing at St Lary in the Pyrenees.
What a difference a season can make. The mountains are simply brilliant no matter what time of year.
